MWC 2023: Huawei Watch GT Cyber comes with some serious G-Shock vibes, but there’s a catch
This gadget rocks some serious design innovation, offering interchangеable cases, and it’s actually the first detachable smart movement. The watch itself is based on the GT3 series, but the display is slightly smaller, and Huawei was pretty secretive about what’s inside the watch.
The important thing here is that you can easily pop out the actual mechanism and change the whole case. There are reinforced metal cases sporting that G-Shock vibe we were talking about in the title, lightweight silicone ones, fancy designer cases, and so on and so forth.
You also don’t have to worry about dropping the tiny cylinder while changing cases (we did that several times during our hands-on with the gadget), it has military-grade drop protection. The rotating crown feels pretty nice and smooth, and the whole design is very rugged.
Another thing worth mentioning is that each case comes with its own watch face, which is displayed automatically when you pop the watch in. Now for the catch. At the moment, this watch won’t be making it to the mass production lines and remains a bit of a concept. Huawei is pondering the idea of bringing it to the global market (Europe first), but there’s no firm decision on that right now.
